![]() it is thick but it depends on how diluted that resin is as to how thick the ink is, this depends on the manufacturer PLUS how long the bottle has been open & exposed to the air to allow the water to evaporate & thicken the ink. Shellac is is a resin secreted by the lac bug on trees in the forests of India and Thailand. Hi Sheila All genuine india inks contain “shellac” in their mix. While I do like India Ink I have not ever had this experience and I’m in search of someone who has. What do you like about the inks aside from cost? Someone once was telling me about an ink that settled “above the paper” and had a 3-D effect. Wow! I have never thought about India Ink by the quart! I always spill the bottle before I get around to emptying it so I’ve always thought of it as “neverending”! I am going to try some Speedball Super Black to replace the rather expensive Dr. ![]() I am going to be doing a lot of large sized ink work soon and need a substantial amount of ink that won’t break the bank and is very waterproof. I wanted to try some after looking at this review below as being more opaque and more water resistant than Speedball Superblack which is one of the least expensive truly waterproof india inks at $12-$19 / QUART – yup the equivalent of 32 1 oz bottles! The Pro Art was also fairly inexpensive at about $1.50 per ounce. ![]() I rely less on them after reading about how lots of them are posted by shills to give a product a better standing.Īpparently it was a house brand distributed by in Oregon which has unfortunately gone out of business after nearly 50 years distributing art and craft supplies. I saw some on Amazon but there was only one review for it and it was a pretty bad review so I don’t know that I would try it.
